Estrategias de Administración para Artistas Visuales

Creative Capital’s Professional Development Program (PDP) y NoMAA presenta un taller de desarrollo profesional y estrategias de administración para artistas visuales hispanohablantes.
Este taller es gratuito y está limitado a 20 participantes.
Descripción: El taller ofrece una introducción intensiva a la planificación estratégica, recaudación de fondos, promoción y comunicación verbal específicamente para artistas visuales. También se tratarán de varios temas entre ellos como trabajar con una galería, como negociar, como manejarse como artista, y los desafíos y las ventajas de trabajar en múltiples contextos culturales.
Dirigido por la cineasta Ela Troyano y la artista visual, Andrea Arroyo.
Lugar: The Cornerstone Center, 178 Bennett Avenue (Calle 189), New York, NY 10040
Date: Sábado, 4 de diciembre, 2010, de 10:00am a 5:00pm (incluye desayuno y almuerzo)
Elegibilidad: Artistas predominantemente hispanohablantes, residentes en la ciudad de Nueva York. Los artistas deberán demostrar experiencia profesional y un compromiso serio con su carrera artística.

Strategic Planning for Spanish-Speaking Artists

Creative Capital’s Professional Development Program (PDP) and NoMAA present a strategic planning workshop for up to 20 Spanish-speaking visual artists.
Workshop Description: This free day-long workshop will be an intensive introduction to strategic planning, business management, fundraising, promotion, and verbal communication skills designed specifically for visual artists; it will address issues such as working with a gallery, business negotiations, best practices for self-management, and the challenges and assets of working in multiple cultural contexts.
Facilitated by Ela Troyano, filmmaker, and Andrea Arroyo, visual artist
Location: The Cornerstone Center, 178 Bennett Avenue (at 189th Street), New York, NY 10040
Date: Saturday, December 4, 2010, 10am-5pm (includes breakfast and lunch)
Eligibility: Workshop is open to predominantly Spanish-speaking visual artists residing in New York City. Artists should have demonstrated professional experience in their fields, with a serious commitment to their careers.

Elsewhere” deals with parallel realities in artists work either in its formal or
conceptual qualities. A parallel reality is a state that we are continually in
and that we are regularly experiencing. In each year, day or hour we encounter a
barrage of contradicting and colliding attitudes, thoughts, sensations, desires,
emotions and dreams.  This condition is even more heightened for artists as they
experience parallel realities as immigrants and as artists in the
conceptualization and in the creation of their work, exploring the many
subtleties, shapes of survival and transformation. Artists Alain Gutierrez,

Sabemos que ha sido motivo de preocupación el hecho de que en los últimos días no   habíamos informado sobre el proceso de desalojo en que nos encontramos, el motivo del mismo se debió a que estábamos a la espera de poder ofrecer buenas noticias.

En la pasada audiencia del día 21 de octubre, los abogados de la parte querellante pidieron a la jueza un aplazamiento indefinido del caso, porque se había llegado a un acuerdo, informando además que  el poder ejecutivo le entregaría una casa a nuestro demandante a fin de que el CODAP permanezca en su local.

Como podrán ver son excelentes noticias para nosotros y el sector cultural de nuestro país, por lo que esperamos que en un tiempo breve  todo quede  resuelto y que podamos al fin contar con el certificado de  título de propiedad a nombre del Colegio Dominicano de Artistas Plásticos.

Por otra parte  el mismo día de la audiencia nos trasladamos al CODAP. En donde procedimos a  quitar el letrero que decía  no al desalojo,  a solicitud del Señor Leoncio Almánzar, Director de la Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Estatales (CORDE) quien  ha interpuesto de sus buenos oficios a fin de encontrar la solución definitiva del conflicto.
